Family Literacy

In partnership with University of Dayton students, COCD is working to produce videos and other educational material that will encourage family members to learn English together. Learning together as a family will help children develop joy for learning and an understanding that education is a continuous and vital process throughout their lives. Additionally, family learning will strengthen intergenerational family bonds and parenting skills. Once these videos are released, children and parents will be able to build better bonds by doing fun activities together, such as reading, cooking, and playing games. Additionally, parents will be able to improve their English skills which will allow them to apply to higher waged jobs, learn better nutritional information, and improve the overall health of their family. We also raise awareness of using resources in the local library.
